If you are seeking therapy, I understand that it can be hard to know where to start.
Just as we all experience life differently, we all have differing needs and hopes from therapy, so just knowing that you are wanting to change or explore something through therapy is a great first step.
A number of things can influence whether therapy feels like a good fit, including the type of therapy you have, what you are seeking therapy for, and how comfortable you feel with your therapist.
How do I know what type of therapy I need?
As a hypno-psychotherapist, I am trained in both psychotherapy and hypnotherapy, which means your needs will be met with a tailored approach that reflects who you are and what you are looking to achieve. This means that you don’t need to know exactly what type of therapy you need or want. I prioritise making therapy a collaborative process with you, ensuring you feel safe and supported throughout.
The way I work is guided by a belief that we all have the inner resources we need to thrive - but sometimes life can be challenging, and it can be helpful to have support in identifying, accessing and developing these resources.
Hypnotherapy can be a great way to help you access more of your own internal resources, allowing you to go beyond any constraints that exist within your conscious thinking.
My training in a range of psychotherapeutic approaches and philosophies also allows you to focus on exploration of feelings, thoughts and behaviours, or take a more action-orientated approach towards specific goals. Sometimes what you are wanting to explore or achieve in therapy means that we will shift our focus over time.
I am also trained in EMR (Eye Movement Reconsolidation) which can be a great way of moving past something that feels ‘stuck’, whether that is connected to experiences in your past or a challenge you are currently facing.
Do you work with what I’m seeking therapy for?
If you are experiencing anxiety, stress, unhelpful emotions and behaviours, self-esteem and confidence issues, phobias or relationship issues, hypnotherapy and psychotherapy can help.
I can work with you on a short or long-term basis, and while some issues may need longer than others to work through, we will always discuss the approach we are taking.
You may know something specific that you want to work on with therapy but it’s also ok if you’re not sure how to define what you’re looking to work through. Sometimes just focusing on your own relationship with yourself can be a great place to start.
By combining psychotherapy with hypnotherapy, we can work at the level that feels right for you and explore whatever is needed to help you create positive change.
What can I expect from you as a therapist?
I believe that therapy should meet someone where they are, so I will welcome you with respect, openness, and encouragement to explore whatever is needed to help you move forwards.
As an individual, you bring values, beliefs and experiences that are unique to you, so we work holistically with your own personal life experience, rather than following a set plan that is defined by any single issue.
I work with adults (18+) both in-person at Treat-Norwich, and online.
Sessions are 50 minutes and I hold an initial consultation (45 minutes) prior to starting therapy, as an opportunity to discuss your goals, talk through how we will work together and answer any questions you may have.
Fees are £50 for the initial consultation, and £55 per session thereafter for therapy.
How do I start therapy?
If you would like to find out more about therapy with me, I offer a free telephone consultation where we can discuss what has led you to explore therapy and I can answer any questions you may have. Please get in touch if you would like to arrange this.
Alternatively, to make an appointment at Treat-Norwich, you can contact the Reception Team on 01603 514195, book online, or contact me directly.
